The Norquay Village neighbourhood is located in East Vancouver, with Kingsway being the centre artery. Primarily a residential neighbourhood with single detached homes the area will soon see rapid change with the addition of apartment projects thanks to the recent zoning amendments in February 2016. One-Family dwelling (RM-1) has now been amended to allow mult-dwelling (RM-9A/9AN)
This change in zoning gives the Norquay area the needed housing density but also strives to maintain a neighbourhood charm by retaining some of the heritage elements one finds when walking around the neighbourhood.
Access to two Skytrain stations (Nanaimo & 29th Avenue) ensures easy transportation to downtown.
Back in 2013, City Council approved the Norquay Neighbourhood Public Benefits Strategy. The project, with a $106 million budget, will ensure the development of the Norquay neighbourhood; adding new facilities and infrastructure such as childcare services, affordable housing as well as a new community facility with open spaces. More key enhancements to the area includes a green corridor and continued transit improvements.
